Experimental and simulation study of phase transformation in thermite welded railway steel heat-affected zone regions

چکیده
Rail transportation has been an emerging and promising method for economic development in Thailand several countries. Thermite welding is one of the major joining processes used to weld rail steel both during construction maintenance. Unlike most which heat generated by electrical energy, thermite use chemical reactions between iron oxide aluminum or other metallic compounds create weld. The amount thus depended on composition ratios oxide, aluminum, as well mixed powder. In addition, size, shape, material mold could also play important role transfer process steel. this research, SYSWELD software developed ESI Group perform thermal-mechanical-metallurgical simulation current article presents that research methodology formulate prediction microstructure heat-affected zone regions railway It noted work attempts evaluate how preheat, generation reaction, possible post-weld treatment be performed controlled pearlitic using software. results on-going will baseline future structural integrity program improving such design selection materials involved construction, especially when appropriate grades procedures steels must chosen withstand actual loading conditions.
